I need to know the facts about the F-41 Suspension... Was the F-41 suspension required on L-71 equipped cars? I don't think so because the numbers in the black book don't add up the same and I have seen a car's tank sheet and it was a 435hp car and no F-41 was on the build sheet. I have several people telling me that F-41 was required like the K-66 when L-71 was ordered... I don't believe it and would like to hear from you all. Thanks, Rick

Rick
It was not required. My L71 does not have F-41 and I have the paper work to back it up.

Re: 1967 427/435 and F-41 Suspension
F-41 was not required on L-71 or L-71/L-89. Same goes for J-56, and M-22. Together these are the "Heavy Duty Options" that were intended for serious racers.
However, F-41, J-56, and M-22 were ONLY AVAILABLE with the above engine options and REQUIRED on L-88 along with C-48 Heater Delete. L-88 was referred to as the Heavy Duty 427.
K-66 was not a HD option. It was required with all SHP and HD 427s and was also available with all Corvette engine options in those two years. The operative word here being "options". I was not available with the base 300 HP engine.
Same in '66 - the HD options were only available with L-72.
...made it pretty clear where the new racing emphasis was, and L-88 was not meant to be your daily commuter car.
The other options associated with racing were C-48 Heater Delete and N-03 36.5 gallon gasoline tank. AFAIK C-48 could be ordered on any Corvette except C-60, and N-03 was available on any Coupe without restriction.
No radio option was available with L-88, but this is NOT "radio delete" because base models did not have a radio as standard equipement, so a no-radio Corvette of this era is simply "no radio option" , not "radio delete".
The other question this raises is: Could a radio be ordered with L-71 or L-71/89 that had the HD options?
Anyone care to take this one on?

Re: OK, I'll bite. The answer is YES
I agree. L-88 was intended specifically for racing, so Chevrolet did not design a RFI package for the L-88, which precluded installation of a radio as a factory option. There was a RFI package for SHP, so there was no technical reason why a radio could not be ordered with L-72, L-71 or L-71/89 regardless of the presence of the HD options.
