C 2 Windshield Removal

I am getting my 66 convertible ready for painting, have all the stainless off of the original windshield, and will replace the weatherstrip. My painter thinks I should remove the glass before painting. I have concerns about my newly restored dash if I do this. What do you guys with a similar experience think? Take the windshield out before painting, or wait and do it after the job?

Pull the windshield and paper up the DLO.

I agree I would pull it out before painting ,then put a new correct date windshield in unless yours is good,but watch out for repo shields that have the tint not all are correct.
