I have often experienced your brake-hard-for-no-ticket. Here's the way the circuit design works: Most radar units sample speeds three times (at least) before posting the value to the display. If the three samples are not within a specified range (i.e. 10%), the display will not occur until the speed samples agree that you have taken your foot off the brake. I have used this (fast foot) method most successfully with a cruise control and a foot over the brake pedal. I have encountered policemen pounding on their radar guns - trying to make them read out as I brake hard. A little knowledge and a lot of luck are your best friends. - Dave
