'66-'67 Option A82, Headrest Seats...

This summer at Carlisle, I'll be looking for(if I'm lucky) a pair of '67 seat frames with the support brackets welded in for the head rest option. My car was originally equipped with them, but now their gone. A previous owner told me he replaced them. Now installed is a fairly new set of seats, in excellent condition, but without the headrests or bracing.

A82 was a fairly rare option, with only 2700 produced for both '66 and '67. Are these 2 years identical in design and construction, and if I can find a pair, what would be a reasonable price for the frames only? I never see any listed in Hemming's. Thanks for any tips. Patrick

The brackets are the same. the headrests are not. You can buy the parts to convert yours if you want. Al Knock probably has them.

Patrick, Good luck. I found a pair of 66-67 bare headrest seat backs in good condition at Carlisle 2 years ago. I paid $200 for the pair and thought I had done a stroke of business. I later found out you can buy the necessary brackets from various suppliers. I think LI Corvette charges $200 for their conversion kit that you can weld on your frames. Ed

Patrick, Ther is a pair of 1967 headrest seats on www.ebay.com for a 1967. The covers are incorrect but they look complete. Good luck, Kieran #11373
