After three failed attempts by a rebuilder to rebuild my 71 350/270 2 bolt main engine I have taken it to another rebuilder. Besides screwing up my block, the new rebuilder tells me that I now have an incorrect oil pan and that I should have a windage tray.
How can I determine if I have the correct oil pan from this year. According to my GM book there was a different pan used for the high perfomrance SB. Since I have a low performance maybe I have the correct one.
Did this engine have a windage tray or only the high perfomrance? If yes, what are the part numbers for the tray and bolts?
If my rebuilder is confusing my block with a HP, would it hurt to install the HP oil pan, windage tray and bolts? Can I still purchase these items?
Thanks
