    C3 Seat metal tag

Actually aluminum tag is more accurate I think. While re-covering my seats, I fount a thin metal tag maybe 1" X 4" mounted to the springs on the passanger seat bottom. The stamped number's read as follows:
    Line 1 - 3974001
    Line 2 - LSZ (or I) M (I think) 3509

Do they mean anything to anyone?
    Thanks!!!

These are very common. They are the part number for the seat frame assembly. In this case, GM #3974001 was the seat bottom frame assembly used for 1970-74, and possibly later, Corvettes.

The second line is some sort of manufacturer's coding, probably denoting the name of the manufacturer as well as other information.

Thanks Joe, I wasn't sure if it tied directly to the vin or trim plates.

No, no relationship, whatsoever, to VIN or trim plates. However, these were one of the few parts to ever be identified by embossed metal parts tags.
