C3 Smog Pump Installation

I am thinking about putting a SMOG pump back on my 1976 for judging. How difficult of a job is it? Where is the best place to get the correct parts? Also are there any differences between the L-82 and L-48 systems?

Do not know how "correct" it will be for judging on your 76, however I bought a rebuilt pump from Auto Zone that was an correct replacement for my 68's original pump at a reasonable price.

I purchased a complete smog system for my '68 427/390 hp from Bill Hodel. It was not cheap but did not lose a judging point. He had all the correct clamps, hoses, and correct date codes for my early production car back in August of '04. He is in Massillon, Ohio and the number is 330-832-0871. Not all 76 applications required a pump. Your engine suffix will dictate the requirements but the good news is both the L48 and L82 used the same pump number #7801149 which was also used from 1970-77...if I got my numbers correct.

The one application that did not use a pump was the L48 automatic tranny with CKX engine suffix
