    c2 battery tray

is there a way to tell if a battery tray is an original? if mine is not i do not see the point of cleaning it up and painting it. it seems to be of very thick steel and the top brkt seems well made, advise is apreciated.bill

repo's up until a couple years ago lacked gussets stamped in the brackets that bolt to the frame. oriiginals had the gussets and i seem to recall recent repo's also have the gussets. mike

I have this one in the basement. It doesn't seem to have gussets so must be a repro. Application is supposed to be 1967 W/O A/C.

PS: cut the brackets off your original and the gussets off the repo and then weld orig gussetts to repo tray(tray being the assembly that usually rusts thru).have done so to several midyear battery tray assemblies and judges liked them. mike

my is completly different and appears to be an original. just cleaned it up. just starting to get lazy. do not like to get dirty like i used to. i think trying to restore (gave up) a 1971 horse trailer for my daughter over a whole summer took away a lot of thunder. makes a nice shed though. what was i thinking. what a father won't do for his daughter, thanks, bill

                  Bill,
The 1967 version is different as no hold-down rods/bolts (battery top-to-bottom) were used. Just a bottom clamp with a short bolt threaded into the welded nut seen in the pic.
