    69 corvette go cart

I have a go cart with a 68/69 corvette body on it. It was made by Rupp mfg. inc in Mansfield Ohio and has a serial # tag. I have had it for 25 years and was told it was a chev. promo and each dealer got one in 68 or 69. Does anyone have any knowledge of it?

Chuck, I can tell you a story that probably won't answer your question, but anyway...growing up in Texas, my family would go each year to the State Fair. I don't remember exactly what year it was, probably late '60's or early 70's, and while at the Fair my sister entered a drawing for a "Chevy Jr." Corvette go cart at the Chevrolet exhibit. They drew her name and said she won, well a few weeks later a truck showed up at our house and unloaded a blue Corvette go cart! Of course, I being the boy claimed it MINE on the spot. That thing did many donuts at the nearby park and I actually got stopped by the police one time for driving it on a public highway to and from our house to the park! My first traffic violation and first Corvette, all by the time I was 10! Later one of my sister's friends (about 13 or so) tried to drive it at the park, mashed the gas instead of the brake and wound up in the lake - a wrecker had to fish it out! Sorry, don't remember if it was made by Rupp, but it was an official Chevy promo Corvette go cart probably similar to yours.

Interesting info, Sal, thanks. I sure thought it was a Corvette when I had it as a kid...it sure looked like one to me at the time...and makes for a far more romantic memory for me today seeing as how I am a complete Corvette nut. In fact, thats one reason I bought my blue '75 convertible a few years ago - in my mind, it looks exactly like that blue Corvette go cart I had as a kid. If nobody minds, I'm sticking with my story (and memory) of it being my first Corvette.

Actually, I think it was a great marketing idea for Chevrolet - how many kids later got hooked on Corvettes because of those go carts? It sure lit my fuse at the time.

Mine was white with a blue nose stripe and I painted it red. It sure looks like a corvette the front nose and tail look exactly like a 69.

Forgot to add it has a corvette stingray chrome logo on the front as well. Looks like a glove box badge.

I agree, it does look like a Corvette. But so does this.
