1968 Body Mount / Cushion questions?

The AIM for 1968 shows the same spacer as being used for Mount 4 and 3?

On my 1968 Coupe, there was a two piece rubber mount in # 4, like my 67.
I am fairly sure, the body had never been off before.

What is correct? Also, the #1 mount only had an Aluminum spacer, washers, and shims. The frame mount has a large enough hole for the same type of rubber mount as #4, should it only have the Aluminum spacer, and shimms? That's what came off when I removed the body.

    Thanks for any input,

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Steve,

My 69 had aluminum spacers on all 8 body mount locations and I'm pretty sure that is the way they were from 63 to around 75 or so.

The first year for rubber cushions on C3s was 1973.

Yes, 1968-72 Corvettes used the aluminum "puck" type mounts at all body mount positions.

          Thanks Joe and Mike,

Was it common to replace these with out removing the body? Both my 67 and 68 have VERY OLD looking rubber bushings at the #4 mounts only.

I'm now seeing in the catalogs that some offer different Aluminum pucks for different positions? For instance, Doc Rebuild's catalog shows the #1 RH and #4 LH to be a shouldered puck and the rest appear to be standard smooth pucks.

What should be there? The Aluminum pucks removed from my 68 at 1 through 3 were pretty far gone, some dissintegrated to the point of being rocks of Aluminum Dust, so I don't really know what should go where?

Thanks For any help on this,

          Steve

Early car mags had articles on replacing earlier aluminum mounts with the 'new' 1973 rubber mounts. Did this with my 69 and my bro-in-laws 68.
Was just looking at that article yesterday.

Steve if you decide to use the 73-82 rubber mounts the rubber mounts for coupes are all the same. For converitbles, mounts 1 and 4 are the same as the coupe, but mounts 2 and 3 are different from the coupe.

                  Hi Jim,

I intend to put the Aluminum Pucks back on my 68 Coupe.

                  Thanks Again,

                  Steve

It appears the #1 LH and #4 LH mounts are "shouldered" Aluminum spacers or "Pucks".

I had a set I got off ebay some time ago, so I replaced these two and put a non shouldered spacer on the #4 RH.

I think that all should be "correct" now.

                      Thanks for all the help!

Now I may have to do it to my 67, which will be a bigger job since the body is on that car!
