Re: Looking for 1970 LT-1 Block
Your odds will be far better to just look for a 3970010 block with a casting date that fits your 6-month "window"; they made about seven million of them. Most of the block points are for the casting number and date anyway.- Top

Re: Looking for 1970 LT-1 Block
You're probably right; however, the chase is a lot of fun. I'll probably pick-up an 010 block while I look for the CTU. I've seen complete LT-1 engines for sale over the years. Thanks, Bunky- Top

Get the right casting, date and restamp!
If you have an original documented LT-1 why not get the proper casting number and date and restamp the block with the proper suffix and vin number. From reading this board it is my understanding that if the car was originally equiped that way there is nothing wrong with this practice. You are only restoring the car back to the way it appeared originally. You can always tell any future buyer that this was done. You could also post this to the LT-1 registry so the future buyer can not later say it was the original block.
I am sure that there will be a lot of different openions on this subject.- Top
