    Joe,
There are several photos of Betty Skelton and Corvettes in the 1956 Daytonna Annual Winter program. One is in a race prepared corvette with Betty at the wheel and Russ Saunders and Zora looking on. There is also a 2 page photo of the 1956 Corvette official pace car with Betty posing next to the drivers door. Another is with Paul Whiteman, supervisor of sports car trials and "Gentleman Jim" Kimberly of Chicago, president of the Sports Car Club of America with the three standing in front of a Corvette. A 56 Corvette was the cover car too.

Dave..thanks for the heads up..I will be looking to get a copy. My car took 1st in Class at the inaugaral NASCAR Sports Car Race at New Smyrna in Feb.1957 orchestrated by Pops Whiteman..and luckily..GM Photographic was there and took many pictures. GM has provided me with those pictures.

Regarding the production 1956 SR cars..I have a personal photo of an original SR provided by the original owner and will post it when I find that box. He bought the car at Dick Doane Chevrolet in Dundee, Ill. in 1956.

      Merry Christmas!

      Joe

        Joe,
I was looking at the 1958 Daytona program and I found a photo of Good ole' Betty standing next to a corvette. It was a partial shot of the car. It had a small "gullwing" plexiglass top/window, a 1/2 plexiglass windshield, a fin w/ what looks like American Flag graphics on it, four exhaust pipes exiting behind the front wheel, a washboard hood and moon hubcaps. It has 57 style coves and FI emblems. I'm sure somebody knows what the car is.

          Joe,
As I look again at the SR-2 photo you posted below it looks like the photo I describe is that of the SR-2. The 58 program has a different angle and is much clearer but the stripes on the fin and the gullwing roof seem to be the same.
