Rick. My originals are NOT cut, but they are "formed" from SS, and tack welded together at the bottom. Chuck

      Re: Yet Another 1963 Question

      Rick,

Thought maybe alz was affecting me early in life so I even emailed and asked Jorjorian. He agrees, all 63 were made of a sheet of SS, rolled and welded at the outer flange surface only. The weld is then ground smooth. The remaining unwelded seam in the TUBE section would be a little difficult to see when installed on the car but, indeed, there is an open seam.

He also agreed that the 64-65 bezel was formed using tubular SS so there would be no seam or weld.

If someone has a decent pic of the split, or seam, of a 63 bezel, I'll be happy to post it.

          Thanks Eric,

So typical the way 63 bezels split at the weld after a decade or more. Pretty obvious that the tubular section was never welded, only the flange section.
