Need Some New GM Parts Numbers

    Hello:

Like most of you we have got the 53-82 Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalog which is very handy. Is there a Web Site or Catalog/CD that has the converstion numbers(Current Numbers)from the old book? I think my local Chevy dealer is getting tired of getting the new numbers from him all the time.
This would save a lot of time.
    Please Advise.

    Thanks Larry
    Larry

    Larry-----

There's bad news and more bad news here. As far as I know, there is no public web-site or other commonly available informational resource that will provide you with the information you seek.

Now, for the "more bad news": the last printing of the 53-82 Corvette P&A Catalog is now more than 20 years old. Since that time, many of the parts shown in it have either been discontinued without supercession OR discontinued with supercession. However, it's been so long now that most of the supercessive part numbers (and, even 2nd or 3rd supercessions) have been discontinued, too.

Most supercessions occur during the period that the car model is in production (in this case C1, C2, C3 Corvettes). They occur because a part used in PRODUCTION for a later model car becomes SERVICE for earlier models. Later supercessions are usually limited to "general use" type parts. In other words, parts that are used across a wide array of models and not just Corvettes. For most Corvette-specific parts, there will rarely be supercessive parts available after the model run is completed.

Since there is miniscule parts commonality between C4 and later Corvettes with the earlier generations, no parts support for earlier models is generated through this route.

Of course, you can always ask about it on this board and myself or someone else may be able to provide information.
