    Repainting dash and console

Does anyone have any tips for repainting the center console. How do you mask off the thin chrome lettering? Do you paint and quickly wipe off? Is there any old files in the restorer?

I did my 68 by painting the console pieces and than wiping off the chrome parts with Laquar thinner and a Q-tip. It worked really well and quick. I had the parts out of the car and on a tool bench when I did it.

I've had good luck using a new Xacto blade to 'slice' the paint off the chrome letters and trim as soon as the paint flashes and is still somewhat soft and doesn't chip. Alan
