    C1 Oil Filler Cap

    I have a 1959 fuel injection car and am trying to find an Oil Filler Cap that is Cadmium plated. Are this available. If not, would the Eastwood Cadmium paint work for an NCRS inspection? Any ideas?

    I'm also having a tough time finding a 107 coil with the correct top. Are these available anywhere?

      If you have an original oil filler cap, then plate it in your home plating system. There are visible construction differences between the original AC caps and those marketed as 'correct' reproductions.

      On the Eastwood paints that mimic various plated finishes, any experienced judge takes one look and sees it's paint vs. plate. Might fool the show 'n shine crowd, but won't get by the knowledgeable folks...

      On the 107 coil, well they're out there but expect to pay a premium price for a factory original from the period. Check those who specialize in straight axle parts like Grossmuellers.

          Home plating system? I've googled a home cadmium plating system but could not find one. Do you know where to find these?

              Dave, Regarding the 107 coil, I'd investigate...

              ...a good reproduction - which means you might have to do some asking and research to get the most accurate item - but trying to find and pay for an "original" 107 could hold up a fun restoration for a couple years. Best, Dennis

                  I've seen some of the cadmium plated caps in other 1959 cars. The early 59 caps with the straight slots have a small radius at the top, however all of the moon-shaped slotted ones for late 59-on have a larger radius at the top. Is the judges guide correct to suggest at all caps have the small radius at the top?
