    C2 66 no headlights

I am helping my friend work out the bugs on his frame off 66. He says he has no headlights or parking lights. New harnesses installed

After I eliminate the obvious like firewall connections my suspicion is either the dimmer switch or the headlight switch.

Since the parking lamps do not appear to get any power from the dimmer switch would the headlight switch be the likely suspect?

The headlights raise and lower which tells me the circuit breaker is closed

Any known issues with Lectric Limited harness?

When I installed new wiring harnesses, the headlights and parking lights did not illuminate until I plugged in the dimmer switch.

Not to give you the idiot treatment, but do the rear parking lights work? With the headlights on, you won't have power to the front parking lights. Designed that way. If you knew that, then disregard. Do the bright beams work? I had a sticky dimmer switch and I replaced it with a junkyard donor in like new condition. Cured my lack of low beam headlights when I had a 66. The other thing to check, beside the headlight switch itself is the connector on the firewall. They can get very corroded and lose power due to build up of corrosion. I had funky electrical gremlins that a good cleaning of the connectors on the engine side of firewall cured.

        Gary,

Thanks for the info. I didn't clearly state the problem. I have not seen the car yet and was trying to do my research first to avoid a second trip back. I meant to say no parking lamps at first detent and no hi or low beams with switch all the way out.

As all harnesses are new I will double check everything is connected.

I suspect HL switch as that controls both Parking Lamp and Headlamps and dimmer swith is only headlamps.

          Was the fuse checked?
Is there 12 vdc at both sides of the fuse?
Is there 12 vdc at the heaqdlight ON/OFF switch?
Is there 12 vdc in and out of the dimmer switch?
Is there 12 vdc at the connector on the engine side of the dash connector?
Is there 12 vdc at the lamp harness connector?
          Are the ground wires attached?
