Could you give me some insight into correct paint coleor for 1970 Corvette engines. On earlier 66-67 survivor cars I have noticed a decidely reddish tint. Does that carry through to the later cars?

There is definite "red" in the "Chevrolet orange" used for 1969-70 Corvette engines. However, it's not quite as pronounced as that used for 66-67 and certainly not as pronounced as for earlier 327's. As a matter of fact, for many years the Chevrolet orange engine paint sold by GM was labeled as "Red", even though it was a lot more orange than red. I believe that it was labeled as "red" right up until the time that the packaging labels changed from the white background to the blue background.
Anyway, I think you'll find that the engine paint sold by Quanta is about as close as you're going to get to that used for 1969-70. As a matter of fact, it's about as close as you're going to get for 66-68, too, even though those years did have slightly more red in them. The GM engine paint, even when it was labeled as "red", had far too little red in it for Corvettes at least through 1970.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -
