55 headlights

I know that the JG ant going to make a Change but any one having a 55 Corvette should know that there were three different design headlight bulbs. And you should keep your eyes open for them.

1 Was a tin back silver color which shows no 12V logo in the glass cover ,NOS will have 12V sticker on glass that is removed when installed. (rare)

2 Was also a tin back black color which now shows the 12V logo in the glass cover.(common)

3 Was a true seal beam ALL glass unit also having the 12V logo in the glass cover.(rare)

This is only a guess but the first design bulb would correspond to a 55 having an engine with 54 dating and first design Dist. & Carb.

Second design a guess again would end around #400 and second design Carb.

Last design around #400 to end of #700
Any T-3's used was a replacement bulb.
All are welcome to dispute My thoughts on this.

Just so you know, I have a notebook that I keep all the history, parts purchase and work done on my '58 and have recently added another section just for your postings, complete with the pictures. You provide information found no where else and I consider it invaluable. Thanks for your efforts and keep posting.

Thanks ,good idea! some day you may sell that newer 58 and find an older 55 Ha!
