    '62 Transmission Removal

The Servicing guide says to remove the upper two transmission-to-clutch housing retaining bots and install guide pins in these holes.

I think I remember a similar discussion about how to make these type of guide pins - can someone tell me again.

    Thanks

Decide how long of a stud you want, get a bolt that long, cut the head off, take a hacksaw and cut a groove for a screwdriver to aid in removal.Probably about a three inch bolt would be about right.I took the time to make a variety of sizes and put in my tool box years ago.Have fun.

While I've never used guide pins, sounds like a really good idea!

Get a couple of 1/2"-13 bolts, cut the heads off, round the ends and use a hacksaw to make a screwdriver slot (for ease of removal); they guide the trans off and on, keep it centered, and carry the weight instead of hanging it on the clutch disc; the plastic plug goes on the output shaft, takes the place of the driveshaft yoke, and keeps the smelly lube in the trans instead of on the floor.
