C2 A/C Expansion Valve Repair... Is it possible???

While working on my '65 last week, I bumped the a/c expansion valve temp sensor line, kinked it, which let the gas charge out of it. Is there any restoration company that can repair/restore my original one??? I ordered one from Paragon which arrived today and it isn't even close to being correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Re: Question... Delco Exp. Valve P/N...Joe???

I actually found what appears to be an identical, used original Frigidaire expansion valve in the basement in my stash of Corvette parts. It was in a Delco box with the part number 15-5325 with another number 12323651 GR 9.213 below it.

Joe, can you tell me what that number is used on???

Also how can you tell if an expansion valve is good of faulty when it it off of the car? On the one that I damaged, I can not blow through it in either direction. The one I found in the basement I can blow through it in both directions.

    Anyone have any answers???

    Thanks,

    James West

      James-----

GM #12323651 was an A/C expansion valve applicable to 68-72 Corvettes. However, I strongly suspect that what's in the box with that part number on it, is not the part that originally came in the box. The Frigidaire brand on A/C parts ceased to be used by GM long before the 12323651 saw the light of day.

I do not know how to diagnose the condition of these valves off-the-car.

        Joe,

Thanks for the response. The part that came from the box is in fact a used original, which is identical to the damaged one that I had to take off of the car. The question now is is the one that was in the box functional??? Wish I could get some responses, I know there is someone out there that has had some experience with these.

        Thanks again,

James, I'd talk to the boys in Tampa- Vintage auto air? who advertise in Hemmings, they do rebuilds on almost all the parts of the old systems, and likely can help. Look under "services" in Hemmings motor news. I used them when I had my '72 and '65 air cars and was very pleased.
