NO NEED TO SHOUT, we're all not deaf
If by 'latest' you mean closest to car trim tag date, it would be difficult to explain an engine cylinder case that was cast, assembled, shipped from either Flint or Tonawanda and then installed in less than a few days time.- Top

Joe,
'C' is October 1971 for 1972 M/Y cars. Did you mean Sept. 30th 1971 instead?- Top

Re: 1972 CORVETTE CO1 BUILD DATE
Mike------
Yes, I blew it entirely. I did recognize C as being October, 1971 for the 1972 models. Why on earth I said March 1972 for the engine is beyond me; it's utterly absurd. Anyway, what I should have said was a date as EARLY as April 1, 1971 would be acceptable under the "6 month rule". However, they would not have been building 1972 model year engines that early, so I don't know how that would figure into it all.
As far as I know, an engine assembly date as LATE as the day prior to the car's build date (not necessarily the same as the body build date) would conform to the guidelines, but I'm certainly not well versed on these sorts of things. The norm would be an engine assembled 2-4 weeks prior to the car's build date.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
