C2 SB Tach cable length?

Need to know the correct length of the Tach cable for a Mid-year SB.Replacements do not have the correct crimp and are 27" which is too long. I do have a source with several used cables, but they vary from 17" to 24".

Any help is appreciated.

The 66 printing of the parts book calls for a cable housing, part number 3866136, that's 23" in OL length. The shaft dim is 24 1/8".

Would you say there is one cable for a FI and one for Carb?

Pretty sure the carb/FI cables are the same part number Mike. (Although the 63-64 would have been a different number than the one I posted above) I'll double check and post the original number for 63. Think there may have been a 1st and 2nd design for 63.

The 63 1st design was 6409130, lenght of 25 1/8
63-64 2nd design was 6409507, lenght of 22 1/8

Also found one for 63-67 pn 6476986, lenght of 24 1/8 may be a service replacement. And for 64 3844016, unknown lenght.
65-67 3866126, lenght of 24 1/8

These lenghts are all the cable lenghts NOT the casing!
Now does anyone dare to ask for the color!

Long Island Corvette has a repro tach cable with a crimp that is very close to the original design. It's a lot closer than some other repro cables I have seen. If you order one, be sure to tell them you want the "correct" design. I think they may have two versions available.
