    C2 Ground from ignition switch

Finishing off the frame off of my car and noticed that there is no ground wire from the wiring harness connection at the ignition switch. Obviously, no power from the switch without this ground. I don't remember if the original harness had a ground in the harness or if there was a single ground wire from the back of the ignition/harness connection to a common ground. I am going to have to run a single ground wire now and need advice on where you guys would connect it.

    Thanks,

    Lawrence Shaw

    Switches dont need grounds.

Yes there is a ground spade coming off the back of the switch and a ground is shown on the wiring diagram. When we ground that spade everything works.

Yes, that is true, but the switch itself does not need to be grounded to act as a switch. There is a ground wire there to the dash panel, and another to the bird cage.

            Wayne and Geoffrey,

You answered the exact question that I was looking for. I needed to know where to take the ground wire from the bayonnet (spade) connector from the back of the switch. Yes you are right there are now wires in the harness for that connector. You said that there are two grounds--one to the birdcage and one to chasis ground. Are both of those grounds coming off of the bayonnet or do you just need one ground?

            Thanks

Both of those should be built into the harness. One goes to the top of the cluster to a lug. The other will have an eyelet and goes to the the Z bar near the verticle bend.

One ground, a black wire from the harness with a single black female connector, goes on the spade lug above the tachometer on the back of the cluster. The other ground wire with a ring terminal on it that goes to the bottom of the Z-bar with a star washer, is a second black wire that comes out of the ground terminal cavity on the radio connector - that wire grounds the clock, the cluster, and everything in the car from the dome light rearward.

The harness has no ground wires in it. It came from Lectric Limited? Any suggestions?

Are these two ground wires coming out of the bundle of wires that make up the igniton connection?

Is this ground the cluster ground?

Right now we have a spade connector connected to the ground connection on the back of the ignition switch and everything seems to be working. Dont want to overload the system.

I will look for these ground wires and get back.

                    Again any comments appreciated.

I got it figured out. Everything is working as it should.
