    Ex-Fuelie on Ebay?

Does the air cleaner nut plate on this purported 1958 ex-fuel injection car look correct? It appears to have been affixed with three rivets instead of one:

There are two photos to look at on this plate; the first is in the main listing, taken from inside the engine compartment. The second can be found on picture 106 to the link for additional pictures found in the listing, showing the plate as seen from inside of the fender well.

        Loren--
Who/what said it should have only one rivet?

See the July 2004 article in the Corvette Enthusiast by Ed Jennings, "Fuel Injection - Fact or Fancy?" p.68, with a picture (No. 13) and a caption "All 58-62 FI cars have this plate regardless of horsepower. It is attached in the middle with a single rivet."
See also Noland Adams' Restoration Guide, p.394-95: "On the backside is a metal plate with two square-head nuts and is center-riveted to the panel."

In this post, I will only address your quoted...

...July, 2004 Corvette Enthusiast by Ed jennings that you present as evidence of this FI air cleaner mounting plate being installed on all 58/62 cars regardless if FI or not.

In the kindest way I can say it, this FI air cleaner plate was installed on 58/62 cars if they were equipped with FI. If they were not equipped with FI, they would NOT have that mounting plate, PERIOD(s)...

My early production 1958 290 h.p. fuelie has the 3 rivets. My mid production 1960 290 h.p. fuelie only has one. Perhaps GM decided that 3 rivets was overkill and simply went to the single rivet in the center of the air cleaner plate. Even my 60' Vette's air cleaner plate (with one rivet) still has holes for three rivets although only one was used.
I can't really see the rivets and the plate in the photos but I have seen multiple 58' fuelies with 3 rivets present.

Oopps, misread your post. Sorry... All FI cars did

have the air cleaner mounting bracket regardless of horsepower as you stated.

That makes sense - the picture in Ed Jennings' article, with only one rivet, was from a 62. It would be interesting to figure out when the change took place, or if there are random examples with both one rivet and three rivets during a time frame.

Figured out how to post the picture of the three rivets from the 58, by the way:

And here is the image of the single riveted plate, from the 62 in Ed Jennings' article:

                      And here's a single rivet job from a 61:
