C2 Looking for correct Solenoid # for 320 Starter

    I have located a 1107320 5G26 Starter for my 66 vert Sept. 8, 1965 build date.

What is the correct Solenoid to go with that starter? 1114304/1114344,1114356. Any one of these correct.

    Many Thanks,

    Nick

The 1114344 is the solenoid you need. I know where one is, if you need one. Wayne

      Then is 1114356 service-only ?

All my Chev P&A30's show only 1114356 for all "320" starters from '64-up. Number 1114344 doesn't appear anywhere in the parts catalogs.

Parts History Index says 1114304 replaced by 1114356 in SERVICE from 5-64.

Well Gentlemen, thank you for your replies.

Now I am confused. I have an opportunity to pick from any one of the solenoid #'s below but want to be sure of the correct one for my application for my 1966 L79 327/350 engine Build Date September 8, 1965.

Which one is it according to NCRS Judging, do they Judge the solenoid?

        Thanks

          Nick-----

GM #1114344 was a PRODUCTION-only solenoid. I don't think that it was used as late as 1966, but I would not rule it out. However, IF it was used, it was used ALTERNATELY with the GM #1114356. So, which one was originally used on your car? The only way to know would be to have the original starter with the original solenoid.

I would say this: if you had a 1966 with what appeared to be an original starter and original solenoid and that solenoid was GM #1114344, then I would agree that the GM #1114344 was originally used ON THAT CAR. I would absoluteley not "extrapolate" that to mean that the 1114344 was used for all 1966's.

Beyond all this, the GM #1114244 and 1114356 are identical in configuration except for "numbers". These numbers are very difficult to see with the solenoid assembled on the starter and the starter on the engine and I don't think that they are judged, anyway.

No, GM #1114356 was used in PRODUCTION as well as SERVICE. In fact, I believe that it may have been the "predominant" solenoid used in PRODUCTION for the 1966 and later years.
