CI rear diff metal tag

I have a 61 with a metal tag mounted under a nut for the rear end. The tag is round with a quarter of it cut out. Can anyone tell me what the tag signifies? Jerry

It signifies the rear end gear ratio, but I don't

have my chart handy to give you a reading on yours. I think C/C catalog may indicate what ratio a tag shows.

All of the repro guides that list the ratios corresponding to the metal discs are incorrect. Contact Tom Parsons for the REAL ratios connected with those various discs.

There was a post on this subject about a year ago. If I'm not mistaken, Mike Ernst said that the round tag with one hole for mounting was used for the 3.36 differentials

I believe the disk with a 1/4 cut out refers to a 2:70 rear end ratio.

The tag with a pie-slice notch out of it signifies a 3.70 axle.
