    C2:67 Checkmark on trim tag

See that light green checkmark on my trim tag.

Would that be associated with something done at the factory, dealer or maybe is just an errant paint rub?

Thought I'd check before I cleaned it off.

            Check your 67

            Roy,

Maybe the Green Fathom hit yours too. Look for the double check mark for the BB hood

            Regards,

                Nick,

Honest, as a 38 year owner I can't remember ever being under there with anything light green. Under the trim tag is a Vintage Air System setup, and the checkmark was there before that.

I thought it was just a dirt mark and tried to clean it with a wet rag. It would not come off. It is like a thin grease pencil or thin paint brush mark.

Mystery to me, I think I'll keep it there. Maybe the Green Phantom did get me.

I was once lucky enough to own a AO Smith 67 that received a Bowtie award. A very original car.

It has the same check mark on the trim tag.

Re: C2:67 Checkmark on trim tag

From the C3 Speculation Department: The mark is clearly and distinctly a check mark...it is not a random rub mark. It was made deliberately, quickly, and efficiently by a south paw...with a sharp pencil I might add. Further, the trim tag on a C2 is too hard to access for anyone to be whimsically putting a check mark on a C2 trim tag...someone really WANTED to make this check mark.

I can think of no good reason any previous owner, dealer, body shop, or anyone one else would go to the trouble to put a check mark on a C2 trim plate. Well, possibly a dealer inventory device, but it seems like they would be checking or writing a list on a clipboard after checking the VIN. In fact, I bet on most cars, those trim tags are never examined closely a dozen times after they leave the factory.

I can think of only one GOOD reason why the mark is there...factory inspector confirming that the trim plate reflects how the car appears, and is what the build sheet says it supposed to be. The C3 Speculation Department sez leave it...trim plate has a nice patina to it anyway.

Not a south paw...a rightie. Old age is heck...It's getting where I can't see out of my "Minds Eye" either.
