    Off Topic help needed

The Climate Control heater in my 2001 suburban stopped blowing warm air. I checked the fuses and replaced the thermostat..but no results.

I talked to a friend with a 2001 Tahoe who has the same problem.

Any ideas???...its going to get cold here in Arkansas pretty soon.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Joe, the only help I can give you on a Surburban is there are two possibilities: (1) no hot water through the core, or (2) dampers inside the heater box preventing inside/outside air (you didn't say which or both) from passing through the core.

The first cause is a coolant circulation problem...you'll probably need the service manual. Does the Surburban have a hot water valve? Check for proper valve operation and operating control function (vacuum, mechanical, electrical?).

The second cause is either a mechanical problem under the dash (sticking or disconnected damper valve) or a controller/actuator problem. Most of these underdash, climate control components are electrically controlled and actuated these days, so you'll probably need to do some circuit/continuity testing. Being able to determine which dampers operate when, and isolating the offender by observation will speed the process.

        Re: Thanks Chuck

Try the blower set on 3 or more. There is a resistor that blows out and speeds 1 and 2 will not work. Had that problem on a 2001 impala.

take it to someone who has a scan tool

all these new cars have output that can be read with a scanner.

just changing part will cost more than the $75

to put the scanner to it. you need a TECH II which all GM dealer have and even some of the larger independent shops. you could even try the big auto part chain stores as sometime they will do the scan for free if you buy the part there

Clem..I checked the fuses and changed the thermostat which was interesting..as the thermostat and water outlet are all one piece...and located on the bottom hose.
Since this did not fix the problem..it looks like a computer scan is needed.

                    Thanks for your input.

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

I went to see the new James Bond movie tonight. Thought is was very good.
