Strainer - 5651702 - (Gas tank screen)

A few days ago we were discussing the screens. I think Wayne posted a picture of his in his tank, a black one in a '66.

Here is the new one from ACDelco P/N 565-1702 or 05651702, depending on which number set you use.

I'd said mine was white. I guess it is actually a green.

Here is the original black one from my '68. Notice it is crumbling and breaking apart.

It has a big split down the side and would not have screened much of anything.

Since the black is a uniform color, I'd say it was black from the beginning and not discolored from years of filtering gas.
