Not really unusual, the engine and body both had to be shipped the same distance, same time required.

fyi - my AOS '65 has a engine assembly date and t-tag body build date on the same day - not unusual AFAIK; you want to see how those dates line up with the car's ultimate "birthday" (also of interest in this type of analysis is the engine block cast date)

My AOS smith body was built one day before the engine. The trim tag is J05 (May 5th) and the engine stamp is F0506HT (May 6th). As was previously stated, this is a result of the rail time from Iona.

I've found this to be consistent with HT coded motors. I've got a 66 convertible St. Louis body car with a trim plate of B14 (October 14) and an engine stamp of F1012HT (October 12). I questioned the same issue and talked to John Hinckley from the Michigan NCRS. John was an engineer for Chevrolet and was present during the 67 buildout and the 68 launch at St. Louis. He stated that it takes 10 hours to get a truck load of engines from Flint Engine Assembly to St. Louis. So this is a possibility of having a very close vehicle and engine build date. I also looked at this from Noland Adam's "Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide #2" and thru the NCRS "Corvette Restorer" archives as well as checking on my own at various events. For 1966 I've found 10 other instances of a 2 day seperation between engine build and the Corvette estimated build date. 6 of these were HT coded engines. So you have one of the longer lead times with 3 days between the engine build date and the vehicle build date.
