    Is a 1965 327 350hp (L79) a small journal motor?

      Re: small journal 327?

The first 2.45/2.10" journal crankshaft was the '67 350,which was used only in the Camaro that year. For 1968 all SB configurations were "large journal" including '68 Corvette 327s, so the last small journal (2.30/2.00") 327 was 1967.

Journal sizes were increased to restore lost crankshaft overlap (to maintain crankshaft stiffness within acceptable limits) with the longer 3.48" stroke, and GM standarized on journal sizes in 1968 so the same bearings could be used in all configurations except the short-lived 400 which had 2.65" main bearings to restore journal overlap with the longer 3.75" stroke.
