    Hi Alan,

    Would it be possible to measure the thickness of the front drum web? That's the flat dish portion. Best spot is between the holes for the wheel studs.

    Are the pri/sec shoe return springs dark red?

    Thanks.

      I have had these units apart before and I have no idea what I've done. The springs have been changed with Spring Unit Kit 3981988. The sec has the dark red spring while pri has two green. Kit has one green spring left. I had 4 kits and did replace all springs, so not sure if they are correct.

      Measured the web at .128" not sure if I selected the correct location, the drum is on work bench. Is this number about right??

      Ck you mail for photo

        Thanks Alan. The .128" would be correct for metallic drums.

        Would it be possible to record/post the casting numbers from all four drums?

        Sounds like the spring kits that were released in the early 70's. i don't remember if original return springs were supposed to be red pri and sec or just pri.

        Got the pic., thanks.

          Re: C2 J65 Drum Numbers

          Rear Drums;

          pn 3828688 with W8 at 180 degrees from pn, one "L" on web by hub hole

          pn 3828688 with W3 at 90 degrees from pn, tow "L" on web near sud holes

          Front Drum;

          pn 3828671 with W7 at 90 degrees from pn. One "X" on web face and a balance weight welded on.

          Other drum is not off, need to lower and take KO off - save for another day.

            Thanks Alan. The numbers are exactly what I would expect to find on original 63-64 drums.
