I just bought a '65 that is 99.9% un-molested. It has a luggage rack that appears just as old as the rest of the car. I'm curious, were luggage racks a dealer installed option? According to my research its not a RPO. Thanks.

Re: Luggage Rack
Hello Jeff,
Yes, the luggage racks were a dealer installed item, not a factory option. I've got an unrestored '65 coupe (except for a repaint in 1978) with a dealer installed luggage rack on it. The car's been in the family since 1973. I can honestly say that I've only seen one or two other C2 coupes with a luggage rack on them. Maybe it's because they don't look that good on a coupe.

Re: Luggage Rack
Jeff
-----There were dealer installed GM accessory luggage racks. There were also Amco luggage racks that were available in the aftermarket. The GM racks attach in all 4 corners to the deck. The Amco rack is hinged at the two top positions and the two bottom positions go down to the rear bumpers and are attached there with a thumb-screw. Im acually unsure if Amco actually had a coupe rack or not but thought I would throw this out there anyway........Bill S- Top

With a Luggage Rack you can do this
But you also need a hard top.
That's a 68 over the counter luggage rack on a 67. Put it on in 69.
Which rack are you looking at?
