The blower speed control for the air/heat is not working it seems to be stuck on low speed and when I click it over to high nothing happens.. I can hear a little clicking when I put the switch to the high position then it stops. Where should I start can anyone help me with this problem.. Thanks in advance

Re: C-3 coupe
Check the voltage at the blower motor. It should be at/near 12vdc when the switch is on "hi". There should be less voltage as you decrease the switch positions. Apply 12vdc from the battery directly to the blower motor to see if it can/will run at maximum speed. Check the ground lug for a good connection.
If the blower runs ok connected directly, then you probably have a switch problem in the med/high speed circuits. I believe the voltage divider resistor will check out ok.....
Hard to troubleshoot a "clicking noise" over the internet, but sometimes if leaves and debris get into the fan it can sound like that....- Top

Re: C-3 coupe
I believe the high speed for the blower motor is on a seperate circut. There is a red wire that goes from the blower to the horn relay on the left hand side if the engine compartment. The horn relay is on the drivers side(left)just above the fender well. That red wire has an in line fuse. Check it to see if it has blown. If it has that will cause you to lose the high fan and max A/c fan.- Top

Very common problem...
which is typically the result of the blower motor relay having seen its useful life. The HI speed positions pass more current than do the low speed positions and therefore create more turn-on/turn-off arcing.
You can pickup an off-the-shelf replacement from your local auto parts store for something like $10-20 and it's pretty easy to install. The problem will be if you want to keep 'Baby' in her factory concours condition...
One of the prime vendors for this relay was Delco Remy, especially on early Shark cars, and those have long been discontinued. About your only source is from a scrap yard car using the same DR relay and you're getting a part that's used...- Top

Re: C-3 coupe
Hey Jack,
I had a problem with my blower motor also:
It didn't work on low, med., but when you put it on high it worked for one second and then blew the fuse. I thought it was the blower switch, but was also told to check the blower fan. I removed the blower motor and hooked it up to 12 VOLTS, it ran fine. So I thought it might be the switch, but I also thought that since I had the blower motor out I would try another motor. It turns out that the used blower motor worked just fine. I don't know the technical term for the problem but something in the original blower motor was causing the problem.
I don't know if replacing the blower motor will help you, but it was an easy re-re and very cheap part $35.
good luck. Ken.- Top
