C2 (1966) Hardtop Mounting Bolt Plastic Bumper

I would appreciate advice on how best to insert the black plastic bumper into the hollowed tip of the mounting bolt for a hardtop.

In principle, it seemed easy enough but, in my first attempt, the serrated shaft of the new plastic bumper wouldn't penetrate the hole in the tip of the bolt. The application of force merely bent, and then broke, the shaft of the bumper.

-------You know Henry,,,I have thought about this once or twice and it finally occurred to me after the same thing happened that the hole in the bolt ought to be a bit bigger. Drill it out enough to accept the plastic tip and glue the tip in. Worked for me.......Bill S
