I want to install headers on my small block project and still retain the generator. Does anyone know where I might get a bracket to mount the generator?

Most of them sell a universal mount kit, and if not them maybe a local speed shop.
I ran into the same issue with the 350 I built.
I used the original bracket off my 327 and was able to run a piece of 1/4" flat stock right up along the front of the block and right past the back of the bracket where it would have bolted to the manifold.
I then stitched a tab onto the flat stock to provide an additional higher attachment point to the block. This tab really helped to stiffen up the whole assembly to prevent the alteranator bracket from flexing.
It took a fair amount of fitting and shaping, but I know that the alternator isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The universal kit won't usually work on older heads (like camel humps) that aren't drilled and tapped.
I tried everything on my older 283/camel humps, finally spent more money on the right parts (http://www.alangrovecomponents.com, I think).

That's why I bit the bullet and created one.
After about twenty coats of Chevy orange, it almost looks like it was a GM part.
