1969 side pipe

I just purchased a 69 corvette with factory sidepipes. The rear bracket on the muffler snapped off leaving the muffler hanging against the side pipe covers. My question is....How do you remove the side pipe covers. Do you have to drop the side exhaust mufflers to remove the side pipe covers?

Rick the side pipe chrome covers are attached the insulation shielding with screws. Just remove the side pipe cover assembley from your 69 to remove the screws. You may very well break a screw or two in removing the covers. The side exhaust mufflers do not need to be removed to remove the sipe pipe covers. The screws attaching the side covers to the car body can also break during removal.

You MIGHT have to loosen the pipes from the manifold and drop them a bit to get the front bracket to slide over the pipe. Chuck
