    C 2--C3 JACK DIFFERENCES

need help to I.D. the 2 different jacks i have---# 1 jack i did'nt look at really close for any date or ? other marks---the jack screw ends on this jack is a square nut with a couple of layers of bent strap for reinforcement-- excuse the crude description but it is a crude looking jack vet for sure but maybe earlier than 67---# 2 jack has machined blocks at the ends and the body contact point seems or looks larger---the lug wrench end machined block has a stamp of 8 L 22--figure 68 dec 22nd date ----i can see why other vet people want some thing sturdier than my # 1 jack---my 72 jack looks like a mack truck compared to # 1 jack---anyhow from what info i've given can some one let me know about jack # 1 and is jack # 2 a 68 jack ? thanks, phil

    more info / measurments

jack # 1 base plate at widest points is 6 X 4 the jack screw has very coarse pitch and there are 3 washers in the bearing position, with the middle washer being smaller diameter than the 2 on either side of it---to me it is starting to look like a genreric vintage jack---jack # 2 with the 8 L 22 stamp has a base measurement of 9 X 4.75---note these are rough measurements---thanks to all for any input, phil

      1968-69 jack

The 1968 - 69 jack used a month/year date code which was stamped on the steel X bars of the jack. There was no number for the day. Example 8B would be Feb 1968. The Late seventies jack used the date system you describe stamped on the steel block at the end of the jack.

        Re: 1968-69 jack

Phil - The 68 Corvette used a jack basically identical to the jacks used from 63 to 67. If it's a 68 Corvette jack, it should be stamped with a date code. The jack configuration changed to the larger jack for 1969 production. Pete
