Hi, my assembly manual shows part number 1970751 radio capitor as attached to the back of the tachometer housing and then pig-tailed into the wiring harness. But what I found on my 68 was another beasty that is also 0.5MF but different physically. I also believe it to be original/correct for my car. It has the part number 3844184 ink stamped into it. Any opinions on proper application would be greatly appreciated. I can provide a picture if desired. Thanks, Terry

Re: Ignition switch capacitor or radio capcitor 68
Terry------
GM #1970751 and GM #3844184 are, respectively, Delco and Chevrolet part numbers for functionally equivalent capacitors. I see no reason why they could not have been used interchangeably on the assembly line.
The GM #1970751 was once available in SERVICE. I can find no indication that the GM #3844184 was ever available in SERVICE, so it was a PRODUCTION-only item. Consequently, it seems VERY, VERY unlikley to me that such a part could have found a home on your car unless it was originally installed there. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
