Actually the motion from the Chevrolet bimetal spring in the manifold is generally in an up and down mode, and the rod ends are 90 degrees from each other. Making up a suitable rod should work fine.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Bill:
Perhaps I am just "thick", but it looks to me that the coil needs to pull in a left to right direction here - not in an up and down.
That last link did not "share" with the public! Bare with me and we'll get this worked out. Let's try this link:
Hope this photo link works or this message will be meaningless - here is the link if the photo comes up a red

Re: 60 (62) Corv Carb
The QJet manual, in Figure 17, seems to indicate that the coil should be going parrallel with the carb:

easiest thing to do might be to replace that bracket and linkage on the side with one from a junk Chevy rochester.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 60 (62) Corv Carb
Terry, with all due respect to your q-jet. I would remove it and buy a Holly Spreadbore 600 cfm.. After some research we found that "Jegs" has the best price. Two day delivery, man that was fast! We just put one on my buddies 73. Took off his new Edelbrock q-jet. spell that "JUNK!"
The Holly comes with an electric (divorced) choke. The carb was a complete bolt on with one wire from the coil to feed the choke. His 73 now runs like a scalded dog!. One tough of the key and she fires every time. Choke works great unlike the old stove type! I'm Planning on Pulling my Edelbrock Q-jet and getting The Holly my self for the 68 after I finish hot rodding the Belaire.
