Why can someone ask for help finding a Part but ..

Why is it that someone can ask where to find a part or the best place to buy this or that but when I mentioned in a post that I was looking for a particular car, my post got pulled? I have gone through the archives and have seen many posts that starts with "where can I find" I am confused and I can tell you that I have struggled a lot more trying to find the right car then someone who has ten choices of interior manufactures. Yes I have placed an add in the up coming driveline. LETS BE FAIR AND CONSISTANT. Either keep this tech only or open it to all forms of ads.

    Respectfully,

i agree that it would be beneficial for the members to have a classified section on this discussion board, much like the Vintage Chevy Club of America has on their discussion board. i'd much rather purchase from a hobbiest than a dealer. this ought to stir up the feces pot. mikie

Under the current board rules, you are not allowed to solicit purchase or sale of EITHER parts or cars. Until the rules changed, any post that could be interpreted that way (judgement call by the Administrator) will get pulled.

If someone asks where to buy the best repro part, generally the responding parties will have no vested interest in where you buy the part...they are only giving you advice on which parts are closest to original, and likely to be most succesful on the judging field.

Now, if a certain favorite-son vendor were to respond that his organization had the only accurate repro (Copied from a real part off a real car! ), his post will probably also get pulled, because he can't openly solicit your purchase of his parts...even when it is the most accurate repro. Just my humble opinion...seems pretty even-handed to me.

I agree with the NCRS policy. If parts wanted/for sale were listed on this board, it would quickly flood the pages with "parts for sale". The technical information, for which this board was constructed, would be hopelessly lost in the confusion. Within days of it's creation, we would see not only parts and cars for sale, we would also see the Corvette beer mugs, Corvette key fobs, Corvette panties, Corvette jewelry etc etc. Just my opinion. Please don't trash this discussion board.

mike et all: go to VCCA via goodle search then click on Chatter. the way the vcca has it set up, one doesn't need to go in the classified should they feel its overloaded with non-chevy parts. i love their set-up. mike

Re: Why can someone ask for help finding a Part bu

All that is needed is to create four forums:
              1) Tech support only
              2) Cars wanted/for sale
              3) Parts wanted/for sale
              4) All the other stuff that is non-tech but is already posted on the NCRS board (hands up anyone who thinks the current NCRS board is pure tech).

The software we already have could be used for all four boards.

I gotta laugh when I read those "put an ad in the Driveline..." posts. In the internet age, who wants to wait 3 months from the time they submit an ad to the time the issue gets mailed. Next deadline is Dec. 1 for the issue mailed Jan. 15... that's 3 months away.

              Dave.

Mikey, The Corvette panties was a fine example you gave. We wouldn't want that on the DB for sure. Seeing that the average age here is baby boombers plus there weak hearts couldn't stand it. Keys though would be a good one to talk about if we only knew where to get dem. I hear round ones are a real collector item though. Jr.

I agree Mike. If there were separate categories that a user could select, that would eliminate the problem of over crowding on the DB. Not sure how difficult that would be though. I have no idea how much work or how much money is involved in running a 2nd category.

Oh, by the way, (off subject) here's a link for you. You can practice/tune your reaction time at the drag strip at the site listed below. Then that "other guy" won't be wastin ya at the starting line next time ya tangle with him. This is from the drag strip that I raced at in the 60's and early 70's. I'm sure there are STILL parts of that Enderle injected 331" motor I scattered there in 1971.

                    Michael,
I must agree because lately I have seen another Corvette Forum whihc is quickly becoming a place for "supporting vendors" to prostitute their products. I don't want to read a "For Sale" forum, I come here for information not for a sales pitch. I do however rely heavily on memebers' opinions of where I should shop for parts since their experience is benefial to me and keeps me form buying junk or dealing with an unscrupulous vendor.

From Mike #14 - "i agree that it would be beneficial for the members to have a classified section on this discussion board, much like the Vintage Chevy Club of America has on their discussion board. i'd much rather purchase from a hobbiest than a dealer."

You are absolutely correct. The Driveline ads are a joke - some members get the Driveline 4-6 weeks before others. For those who don't like this idea, maybe you should buy a bigger pair because your Corvette panties are too tight.
