According to Noland Adams' Complete Corvette Restoration guide, "the K66 ignition system was moved to the left side of the car". On my 66, the ignition wiring and amplifier are on the right side of the car. Does this mean it was added as an after-market part by a previous owner? If it matters, the car is a 427/390 with air conditioning.

Re: 66 Transistorized Ignition Question
Noland and the judging guide agree on that item so I'd look at several things if I were you. First, have you checked the drivers side inner fender for evidence of holes? The holes were not in cars without TI, so if you have an originaL inner fender there holes are present would indicate TI on the car originally in the standard location. Where is the TI box located? Is the wiring original, is the car's serial number early enough that it might provide some answers for a non-standard build? Lots more information available on the car to answer your question, or at least reduce the possibilities.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 66 Transistorized Ignition Question
O/K, there are holes in the drivers side fender well, the wiring looks original, the TI box is located on the front of the radiator core support on the right side. The build date is April, so not an early car.- Top

Re: 66 Transistorized Ignition Question
Well, the distributor, the lack of a ballast resistor and the accompanying hole in the front of dash to retain the resistor are a couple that come to mind pretty quickly...Bill Clupper #618- Top
