John--
This often happens when an engine is not breathing properly. Guys put non-vented valve covers on 350's with no breather tube on the back and then wonder why the motor is blowing oil out the filler tube or any other possible place. Roy had some decent suggestions to look for--good luck.- Top

John------
In the simplest of terms, engine wear produces blow-by. Blow-by produces the symptoms you describe. Of course, it can also be caused by the breathing problems that Roy and Mike have described. However, if your crankcase breathing system is in reasonable repair, then the problem is most likely related to blow-by. This is just one of these conditions that is produced by "aging". Analagous conditions are produced in humans as a result of the "aging" process. With a car, you can rebuild it and get everything back to as-new. With a human, you can't.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Hey Roy:
What exactly is it that an exhaust valve not seating would do to cause this? I don't know why this fascinates me, maybe because my 61 blows oil out the road draft tube at a high rate (but at least the undercarige is preserved ).
Thanks!

If that o-ring will get me back to my "as new" condition, I'll be down there knocking at that guy's door so quickly it will make your head spin. For that, I don't even care how uncomfortable the installation process might be.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
