Hi, I am a german Vette Fan and owner of a 82 Collector-Edition. Unfortunately is the cruise-control is out of order. Is there a chance to get it repaired by myself? The pre-owner told me, that this is a defect, that has almost every C3. So I hope, that someone has experience about that problem. Thanks a lot! Best regards Juergen

Re: cruise-control
Juergen-----
Most often, the problem with 1977-82 Corvewtte cruise controls is a defective transducer assembly. Less often, the problem is the cruise control servo assembly. The transducer is still available brand new from GM under GM #25030876 but this part GM lists for $632.84. The servo is also still available under GM #25031529 and currently GM lists for $71.17.
However, that's the bad news. Things get better. You can purchase a rebuilt transducer on an EXCHANGE basis for your car from The Last Detail for $67.00. The Last Detail will also sell you a new GM/Delco servo for $45. I recommend that you change both parts at the same time. Then, I think that your cruise control will work fine. Follow your Chevrolet Service Manual to perform the installation which you will not find to be too difficult.
You can "dial up" The Last Detail at www.tld-corvette.com.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: cruise-control *TL*
Juergan,
Newest Chevrolet Service Manual I have is 1978 and it has a troubleshooting section for cruise control - perhaps 1982 manual does as well. Maybe you ought to get the manual and do some testing before you replace parts in a "shotgun" manner.
