ADQ: According to the 1973 assembly manual, the distributor ASM pn# 1112098 (L-48 MT) was installed as an assembly. This was done by the engine assembly plant. Therefore my manual does not break down the individual parts by PN# within the distributor such as vacuum advance. What reference(s) is best to have for more specific PN#'s for this? Tks.

Re: Distributor part number question 73
Charles-----
There are not that many parts in the distributor. Here they are for the GM #1112098 distributor:
housing------GM #1851158
seal (felt)----GM #1950569
washer (plastic)----GM #1951099
lubricator----GM #1852935
mainshaft w/autocam-----GM #1870658
drive gear------GM #1958599
cam with weight plate----GM #1870644
weight base button (nylon)----GM #1957329
breaker plate-----GM #1846122
plate retaining spring----GM #1932024
cent. adv. weights (2)-----GM #1881371
cent adv. springs (2)-----GM #1870640
condenser-----GM #1932004
breaker plate grounding lead------GM #1932002
housing grommet------GM #1932023
vacuum control-----GM #1973446
rotor------GM #1971247
primary lead (to coil)------GM #1875613
point unit------GM #1966294
cap------GM #1971244
cross shaft gear (tach)-----GM #1955842
coupling (c/s gear)------GM #1955799
washer (c/s gear)-------GM #1956834
The problem is that most of the above information is fairly academic. Virtually all of the above parts are long-since discontinued. The exceptions are tune up parts (cap, rotor, points, condensor) and the distributor drive gear. All other parts are gone. A few of the others may be available in the aftermarket. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
