    67l ug nuts

I just purchsaed real KH bolt ons for my 67 but I have been told that I need special lug nuts for them. I always thought that only the repro wheels required the special lug nuts. I would like to mount them on my car but I want to be sure which type of lug nuts to use first. Thanks in advance.

    Steve,

I'm not aware of a difference between standard wheel lug nuts and those used for the AL wheels. Is there a different part number shown in the 67 AIM for the optional wheel?

      Micheal,
I am not sure if there is a different part # on the AIM, I am just going off someones opinion that KH wheels needed a different lug nut although I feel that the standard one will work. I guess I would rather be be safe than sorry and be 100% sure before I mount them on my car.
      Regards,
      Steve

        Re: 67l ug nuts

Flip to the back of your copy of the AIM book and stop at option N89 (aluminum wheel). The drawing calls out the lug nut used to install the wheel and its denoted 'EXISTING NUT' meaning there's no difference between the lug nuts used on the optional vs. standard wheels...

          Steve,

The longer lug nuts that were used with KO wheels in 64-66 would serve no purpose on a 67 AL wheel. The extra length of the nut was to prevent installing the 64-66 wheel in an incorrect clock position. Also, much of the length of the longer nuts was actually off the end of the stud so there would be no benefit.

I remember a few original owner 67 cars from "the old days" that had AL wheels with standard nuts.
