    Werner Grossmueller

Another sad day for our hobby. We have lost Werner Grossmueller who I am told passed away on Thursday. I am not sure if there is a post or not or Werner.
Werner was a first class act. A true gentleman and an attribute to our hobby. He will be sadly missed. I remember when he took over his business from RL William and called me one day looking for an extremely rare FI part. I said Werner don't let the boys use you. The part is just not avaialbe. He said John I am going to try anyhow because then maybe they will call me when they need something else. Walked around the Carlisle shows dressed like a business man. I would tease him a lot and say hey Werner you're not going to get any bargains walking around in a three piece suit. He would come over and shake my hand and say you don't dress like a hobo either. Nice guy. He and Carol worked sooo hard for us. Lost Jerry and now Werner. Seems that too many of the good old boys are leaving us. God Bless our friends.

Grossmueller's Classic Corvettes and Parts grew out of a lifelong interest in corvettes and their restoration. Werner Grossmueller bought his first corvette, a 1954 with a cadallic V-8 installed, as a high school junior in 1958. After several engine transplants, the last being a 1962, 360 H.P. fuel injected 327, the car competed in the B modified sports class at the local drags.

It was this early background as a hobbyist in racing and restoring that helped form the company's business philosophy of not only being a parts supplier but also providing restoration information on assembly, repair and installation issues. Besides providing an extensive inventory of original and reproduction parts, Grossmueller's manufactures over 80 items, ranging from accelerator linkage for '53's to bumper brackets for '58-'62's and other rare parts not readily available from other sources.

What happened? He appeared to be in good health at Carlisle, and in conversation didn't indicate anything different. A true gentleman!!!RIP

Rev Mike, Can't seem to find out how he died. Andy Cannizzo told me around lunch time today about Werner. He also sent me a copy of his obit which said the funeral is on Monday. No other details were available. Heard he was in the hospital but didn't hear for what reason. I know he pushed hard to please our Corvette friends. Maybe stress had something to do with it. Maybe Tom knows since he seemed to know so much about Werners past. Appeared to be in good health as he walked by my trailer at Corvette Carlisle last month. Waved but didn't stop as he typically did. I guess we are getting to the age where it will be common place to loose one friend after another. But it's hard to face this reality. As a minister I guess you see this everyday and are able to confront it better. Hope I not out of order in saying that. Take care, John

              John--
I do deal with this on a near-daily basis, but it still is hard. Even though the average age in our church is 31, with 7500+ members, we deal with a huge amount of cancer, heart conditions, etc. It's always tough when it's a good friend, --Werner was a fair, honest, interesting man--we did seminars together in the days of Bloomington at the state fairgrounds in Springfield--I miss him!

Several months ago I called him to inquire about a set of Power Beams for a 73. His price was way lower than what I had seen similar sets for sale on ebay. These bulbs are not reproduced and difficult to get in good shape for obvious reasons. Well they came better than advertised. I didn't have a C1 at the time but was looking at one seriously. I requested he send a catalog because his old style service had hooked me. The catalog is on my desk at this moment. Very sad to hear that he is gone.

What about RL..is he still with us? I remember selling him a complete 1956 dual quad set up for $350.

You're right..too many are leaving us!

I believe that R.L passed " several years ago.
