    65 L-79

I have three questions on my 65 with the L-79 engine. 1.What is the correct fan blade assembly and does it come with a clutch? 2.The intake manifold currently on the car is correct (3844461). I am preparing to replace the incorrect carb on the car with the original which I had rebuilt. The sketches in the parts books indicate a hose assembly running from the intake manifold to the base of the air cleaner for crankcase ventilation. My manifold has no hole to which to attach the fitting... Can someone help me figure out either what the sketches do not show, or what is going on with this??? 3.Where does the hose which connects onto the small nipple on the air cleaner go to?

    Thanks for any help...

Yes it had a fan clutch. The crankcase tube mounts on a hole in the back of the block itself. If you do not have this hole, then you have a later model engine and your out of luck if you want to mount the tube on it.

Mark --- To add to W.W's comments, the hole in the block (top/rear) is just beside the oil pressure line. You should have a 5-blade fan. Hose from small nipple on bottom of air cleaner (passenger side) goes down to a tube entering the exhaust manifold just above the heat riser valve. The hot air outlet of this tube exits the forward/top side of the exhaust manifold and, via a chromed tube attaches to the heat stove fitting on the carb (just below and to the rear of the black bakelite choke adjust cover). Of course, you need the correct RH exhaust manifold #3797902, or #3797942 w/C60.

Wayne and Wayne, Thank you so much for providing answers to my questions on my car. The sketches in the books I have just did not have the views I needed. The car appears to have the correct fan clutch assembly on it. The block in the car is correct but has a cover over the hole in the block. After removing the cover, it appears the threaded hole and the large one are fine. Previous owner apparently did not want to mess with it when he switched carbs in the past?? The exhaust manifold for the right side appears correct and has the lower and upper tube connections on it for connection of the two lines. Again, I could not see the detail in the views I had. I appreciate getting this quality info from both of you. I know I will have a need for more answers as I continue to put the car back to correctness. Thanks a bunch!!!!
