I just returned from the pure stock muscle car drags in stanton michigan, 137 cars were entered, and the top 4 cars were 3 69 L88 coupes and a hemi cuda. 2 of the L88 cars were automatics. The orange one driven by Julie pennington went 11.54 @122 mph to win in the finals against Jimmy Johnsons silver 4 spd that went 11.68!! The mopar boys were all up in arms. To prove his car was legal, julie's husband pulled the intake and one head so that the officials could verify that it was legal. Keep in mind that the cars can be bluprinted to nhra specs, but must run original F70/15 tires with stock everything. no headers etc!! I guess the other guy that had a 71ls6 that went 12.00 @ 115mph, must have been bluprinted too!! Mine went 13.10 @ 107 mph. How come my car doesnt sound like his?? i have heard that sound before, I think they call it a high compression motor!! The last time i looked, the LS6 was 9.0 to 1 If you get a chance, come out next year, great car show with drag racing.

Having done some of that racing Jeff, if you look closely at the NHRA "Blueprint" specs for the '71 there may not be that much actual compression difference "at minimums"

John, thats right, I forgot he was from washington. I hear he and his brother have alot of coin and alot of nice cars, I think the bone stock hemi challenger is his brothers, who did the motor?. he ran 12 flat in qualifying and raced copo pete in the ZL1 camaro
